Source: Clujul Medical. Jun, Vol. To evaluate the role of mammography in diagnosing breast tumors.
Melanoma - Overview (signs and symptoms, pathology, risk factors, treatment)
To analyze the various mammographic aspects encountered with benign and malignant breast tumors. Materials and method. The study was a longitudinal prospective one, the time period being comprised between March - March The inclusion criteria were fulfilled by tumoral lesions, identified in patients benign, 28 risk tumors, malignant.
The black star appearance characteristic for radial scars, was found in 5 malignant cases. No benign tumor from the studied lot presented this particular aspect on mammography.
For the benign tumors only the risk ones presented with polimorph and pulverulent microcalcifications.
Casting microcalcifications were not encountered in benign cases. Focal asymetric densities detected on mammography should be checked with ultrasound which may reveal nodular or even subtle non-mass forming lesions, some of whom may prove to be malignant.
The increased number of palpable and locally advanced breast cancers represent a major reason for the implamentation of a mammography- hpv virus lip screening program in Romania.
